Noble

Royalty of the Reach:

The King-(Addressed in conversation as “Your Grace”)
A male sovereign or monarch, husband to the queen, the king rules large areas of land or country under a mandate known as Divine Right. To assist him in governing such a vast expanse and to help defend from invasion, the King divided sections of the land up and parceled it out to nobles known as Vassals, who became his Bannermen or Banner Houses, sworn to him. In exchange for the power and wealth granted to them as Vassals, the Bannermen, in turn, swore to come when called to assist in defending the nation.

The Queen-(Addressed in conversation as “Your Grace”)
A female sovereign or monarch, wife or consort to the King. the Queen is the King’s top advisor. The Queen is far from powerless, as her voice can be very persuasive in politics and decision making. This can sometimes create conflict between her and the King’s Hand, as the Hand of the King speaks for the king when the king is not present, and leads the King’s Small Council.

Prince-(Addressed in conversation as “Your Grace”)
A non-ruling male member of the royal family.

Princess-(Addressed in conversation as “Your Grace”)
A non-ruling female member of the royal family.

Queen Mother-(Addressed in conversation as “Your Grace”)
The mother of the reigning sovereign, the Queen Mother is a Queen dowager who is also a widow of a former King.

Regent-(Addressed in conversation as “Your Grace”)
A person whose job it is to exercise the ruling power within a kingdom
in place of the sovereign, during their minority, absence, or disability.

The siblings to the King and Queen, although technically only Lords/Ladies, are given the choice within our kingdom if they wish to use those titles or the title of Prince/Princess, or others, such as “Ser” if they have been knighted. Take cues from the titler of the person being addressed and react accordingly: “Your Grace”, “Lady Tyrell”, “Ser Edric”.

Hand of the King-(addressed in conversation as “My Lord Hand”).
The Hand of the King (or Hand of the Queen, in the case of a ruling female sovereign), also shortened to the King’s Hand for simplicity, is the most powerful of the appointed positions in the Seven Kingdoms and is second only to the King in both authority and responsibility. The Hand is the King’s closest advisor (other than the Queen) and is authorized to make decisions on the King’s behalf and in the King’s name. The Hand of the King is also the highest-ranking member of the Small Council, and leads the meetings of the Small Council as the King’s proxy when the King himself cannot be present.

Noble-(addressed in conversation as “My Lord” and “My Lady” )
Normally ranked directly under royalty, Nobles possess more acknowledged privileges and a higher social status than most other classes in society and membership therein is typically hereditary. Noble privileges may constitute significant advantages over or relative to non-nobles, or may simply be honorary in nature, and can vary by country and/or era. With these privileges, however, comes a lifelong obligation of duty upholding various social responsibilities, of showing honorable behavior, of providing customary service, or taking leadership roles or positions, that lives on through a familial or kinship bond.

Inherited titles often distinguish nobles from non-nobles, although in some nations most of the nobility have been untitled, and a hereditary title does not necessarily indicate nobility. Some countries have had non-hereditary nobility, such as the Empire of Brazil or life peers in the United Kingdom.

  • You have to born into a noble family if you want to become one, or in strange circumstances, marry into one.
-They have rights and privileges bestowed on them.
-They are required to be respected under the law and can take many liberties with smallfolk with almost no consequences.
-They can’t work in fields, farm, or hunt.
-If they want to run a business like ales or wines or any other, they will need to hire smallfolk (can be NPC, but you will work OOC tag)
-Nobles are addressed in conversation as my Lord/ Lady. In case of Royals(ranks listed above), they will be addressed by Your Grace. Heads of Houses: Need to be more active than a typical role-player. They are loyal to the Royal House of the Kingdom. They attend courts, make decisions for their House, etc.
    -Male or female role.

A Noble lady would be quite virginal and chaste, and is to be treated that way. A noble Lady would not be seen inside a brothel, or go unaccompanied into a tavern if you chose to do so you should also make the choice to accept any in character consequences for doing so. Since some people like to add more excitement to their roleplay, if you wish to be with those common folk beneath you, we recommend going in disguise. While we are not saying you can’t go into the tavern, we are saying that you probably shouldn’t if you are attempting to portray a noble lady accurately for the time.

Please remember that, at this time, women did not have rights they have today and that men dominated society and were more free. Though it may be hard, try not to view how you are treated in character using today’s political correctness.

Lady in Waiting: Lady of Noble birth who is in attendance upon a queen or princess
